Schooling Resources
Supporting children in education means partnering with families, teachers, and schools so that every child can feel safe, valued, and capable of success.
For many neurodivergent children, the school environment can be overwhelming — routines may feel inflexible, transitions can spark anxiety, and classroom demands may not align with individual learning styles. At Curly Words, we work with families and schools to reduce these barriers and create opportunities for participation and growth.
Our focus areas
- Transitions: preparing children for starting school, changing classes, or moving between schools with tools that reduce anxiety and increase confidence.
- Participation and engagement: practical strategies for increasing involvement in lessons, group activities, and play without overwhelming the child.
- Parent advocacy: coaching parents to confidently navigate school meetings, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and communication with teachers.
- Inclusive practice: promoting Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated approaches so classrooms work for a wide range of learners.
- Collaboration with allied health: aligning school supports with therapy goals to ensure children receive consistent help across settings.
Research and practice
In partnership with the Mount of Olives Foundation, we are developing evidence-based practices that bring together research in cognitive flexibility, executive function, and inclusive education. This ensures our recommendations are not only practical for teachers and families, but also grounded in current evidence.
Our aim is to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive at school — academically, socially, and emotionally — with the right supports in place at the right time.
